Our olive trees in winter: here comes the snow!

The following are some photos of our lands blanketed by the snowfall of the last few days.

Snow is actually welcome, because in addition to the extraordinary beauty of the landscape, the sudden drop in temperatures and the presence of snow might be very positive for our olive trees.

Low temperatures affect also the olive fly, a real threat to our olive oil production here in Tuscany: olive fly larvae hole up inside the olives that are still on the trees, on fallow fields, or on the ground. Temperatures are down to -8°C lately and it will surely help to thin out the larvae.

That’s why we extend a very warm welcome to the snow!
